I love surprises. I love post. So what better way to celebrate than with a monthly subscription to a little box of delights?

A monthly (or more) box of joy containing surprises of your choice.
For me this is quickly becoming something of an obsession.

The best bit about these boxes is that there is something for everyone and they are gathering so much in popularity that they are becoming more and more bespoke and soon you will be bale to get a box for every whim! I personally can’t wait for the new Paleo box to come out.

The basic gist of it is that you subscribe to a monthly price (some sites let you buy in packs of 3 or 6 month blocks) to a box of treats or things you’d enjoy. Then every month you get a box of products based around what you wanted (for example a lot of the beauty boxes ask you to fill in a beauty profile to closer gage what to send you, or a food box ask you your dietary requirements). Some sites ask for you to fill in reviews of the products and give you points for doing so, eventually leading to a free or discounted box.

As I am becoming obsessed (ok, you got me, already obsessed!) I decided to write some reviews to help those that are looking for a box. I currently subscribe to four boxes regularly and am always on the look out for discounts or offers to test boxes out to see if I would subscribe to them regularly, so if there’s one that particularly piques your interest, let me know and I will see if I can review it for you!

Today I am reviewing the Birch Box.

I’ve done this straight after my last post on the Glossy Box as these two are very similar, in price, products and ideals.

The difference firstly is that Birch Box asks you to fill in a beauty questionnaire to better suit you to the products they send out. This is my first box so I can’t say it’s working for sure, but I look forward to finding out.

In this months box I received:

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray
Dr. Brandt Pores No More
Molton Brown Hand Cream
Korres Citrus Body Milk
English Laundry Parfum
Candy Rock

Plus the opportunity to enter two give always and a voucher for a soap and glory brow pen when you visit one of their make up booths.

The benefit stay don’t stray was a hit with me before I used it. I love benefit make up. Although it was a small sample, I will certainly be saving this for when I need to impress, it works like a dream.

The citrus body milk was a little bit of a flop. The smell was not at all powerful enough, although the size of the sample was pleasing. Certainly not something I will be using in the future, and the lotion isn’t even thick enough for me to squirrel this away in my handbag to use as hand cream.

The pores no more is a close runner up to product of the month for Birch Box. A definite luxury, this costs £36 for its full size counter part. However, I noticed that my skin looked great and my make up stayed on better for longer after using this. Certainly one for applying on days I know I will have my picture taken.

I was certainly impressed with the Molton Brown hand cream, with a smell of rose and rhubarb you’d think it odd but the scent is glorious! I will be sticking this in my main hand bag and be ceremoniously inhaling the scent off my hands after every application. I only wish the sample was bigger!

And my product of the month for Birch Box was the English Laundry Parfumerie. I surprised myself with this one as I generally tend to stick to the scents I know, but this was stunning. Without a doubt I will be purchasing this in full size. Beautiful.

Also worth mentioning is the much loved stick of rock I received (my boyfriend loved this, I unfortunately am strictly paleo at the moment!) and the cute draw string bag that all the products arrived in.

The birch box costs £10 a month (plus £2.75 p&p) so is definitely one of the cheaper subscriptions out there.

And so, in summary:

Value for money: 4/5
Appearance: 3/5
Product Relevance to Me: 3/5
Product Quality: 5/5
Shipping: 4/5

Would I subscribe to this? Yes!

Notes: I miss the full size products that Glossy box offer, but in terms of quality products, this sure does contain some powerful players.
